Tournament victory for 1st VII netballers
Congratulations to the 1st VII netballers who successfully defended their title in the Birley Tournament on Tuesday 24 January. This is an annual invitation-only event, held at The King's School in Canterbury, with the list of invited schools reading like a "who's who" of top independent schools in the south east.
Although Woodford saw constant rain throughout the afternoon, the girls stayed dry in Kent. They convincingly won all three of their section matches to face Brighton College in the semi finals. They then were up against Benenden in the final, which proved a very close match: Bancroft's winning by a single goal (14-13). Therefore, we retained the trophy. Player of the Tournament as voted by the umpires went to Sophie Luck.
The afternoon proved to be an excellent warm up for Sunday, when Bancroft's teams are in action in all three age groups (U19, U16, U14) of the Regional Round of the National Schools Netball Tournament at Redbridge Sports Centre. Good luck to them all.
