A Level Results & University Destinations
We are proud of the academic results achieved every year by our Upper Sixth (Year 13) leavers. In 2022, we saw a fantastic 45.1% of papers taken graded at A*, with 93% at A*/A or B grades.
Our leavers progress to some of the leading Universities in the country, with over 75% gaining places at prestigious Russell Group institutions. In 2022 over 80% of our Upper Sixth took up places at their first choice universities. The following universities have become the most popular destinations over recent years; Cambridge, Nottingham, UCL, Imperial College, Warwick, Durham, Exeter, Bristol and King’s College London. Degree courses are varied. We always see a substantial number of our pupils go onto to read the highly competitive subjects of medicine, dentistry and veterinary science, but in 2022 Bancroftians went onto to study more than 50 different courses including Economics, Engineering, Medicine, Maths, English, History, Law, Astrophysics, Criminology, Comics & Concept Art, Drama and Philosophy. We are also seeing more pupils interested in degree-apprenticeships
Throughout the Lower and Upper Sixth a number of workshops on university applications are laid on including Competitive University Admission Workshop; University and Careers Fair and Apprenticeship Evening. The actual UCAS process begins around the end of June in the Lower Sixth year, and throughout this period advice, training and help is given. Applications are thoroughly checked and processed in the autumn term. Where applicable, we arrange pupils to undergo mock medical, dentistry, veterinary and Oxbridge interviews with subject specialists.
