A Level Student Spotlight: Year 3 to LSE
Amber wasn’t sure what to expect when she stepped into Bancroft’s in Year 3, but it didn’t take long for her to feel at home.
I’d love to work for Amnesty International or other NGOs, travelling to lower-income countries and making a difference.
“Writing my personal statement was intense, but I had so many teachers ready to help,” she explains. “Their feedback was crucial in perfecting my application, and it played a huge role in securing my offer from LSE. I always felt like I could ask any teacher for advice, and my Housemaster was especially supportive in helping me navigate my university choices.”
With all 9s at GCSE and A*s in Geography, Economics, and Mathematics at A level, Amber’s academic performance is truly exceptional. But she’s quick to point out that her time at Bancroft’s wasn’t just about excelling in exams. “I absolutely loved leading the Muslim Association,” she says.
“We hosted an Eid festival, organised an Eid lunch, and held Muslim assemblies every other Wednesday. These events brought our community together and gave me the chance to bond with students across all year groups.”
Looking ahead, Amber is excited about her future in Human Geography and international development. “I know how lucky I am, and I want to give back,” she shares.
Thanks to the connections she’s made through the Old Bancroftians Association, Amber already has a network of professionals in her field, ready to support her as she takes her next steps. “I’ve met some incredible women through the Old Bancroftians, and I know I’ll be able to reach out to them as I move forward in my career.”
With her infectious energy and tenacious spirit, we are sure Amber will go on to achieve great things, whatever path she takes.
