Finding the right school for your child is a difficult decision but one of great importance. Open Events can have an important part to play in this decision making. Our Open Mornings and Evenings give you the chance to meet staff and pupils, get a feel for our school and its ethos, as well as to see our fantastic facilities. If you are registering your child to sit an entrance test for entry September 2024, we strongly recommend that you and your child visit Bancroft’s before they sit the test. This will allow you to familiarise yourselves with what we offer.
Prospective parents and pupils are invited to visit Bancroft’s on the following occasions during 2023. It is necessary to book in advance for these events and the relevant booking forms will be made available on this page.
Events for 11+ entry 2024
Open Mornings
- Saturday 10 June 2023, sessions at 9.30am and 11.00am
- Saturday 11 November 2023, sessions at 9.30am and 11.00am
Starting with a tour from a Remove (Year 8) pupil, these mornings give the opportunity to view the School as well as meet pupils. Tours are followed by time to talk informally with staff over refreshments. Our Head, Mr Simon Marshall and Head of Transition, Mr Paul Dickinson, will be joined by pupils for a question and answer panel.
Small Group Tour Mornings
We will be holding a series of small group tour mornings for entry September 2024 during the autumn term. These mornings give you, and your child, a great chance to see Bancroft’s “in action” during a working day. Following a tour of the school led by Removes pupils (Year 8) there will be a chance to chat over refreshments. A question and answer panel chaired by a member of our Senior Learning Team, with pupil representation, will conclude the morning. Please book for these tours; numbers will be strictly limited

Open Mornings for 7+ entry 2024
- Saturday 13 May 2023, at 10.00am until noon
- Saturday 7 October 2023, at 10.00am until noon
This will be the ideal chance to visit Bancroft’s Prep and meet our pupils and staff. The morning starts with a presentation at 10.00am from our Head, Mr Joe Layburn, and he will be on hand during the morning to answer all your questions. Mr Layburn will only be speaking once during the morning. During his presentation, Mr Layburn will share important information about our admissions process as well as life at Bancroft’s Prep. As well as self guided tours around the Prep School building, when you will meet our teaching staff, you will also have the opportunity to visit those areas of the Senior School which are used by our Prep School pupils. The event finishes at noon.
It is necessary to book in advance for all our 7+ Open Mornings.

Event for 16+ entry 2024
- Thursday 28 September 2023, 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Following tours of Bancroft’s by current Sixth Formers, you will hear from Mr Simon Marshall, the Head, and Mr Philip Harrison, Head of Sixth Form, about Sixth Form entry and the opportunities offered by our Sixth Form. Representatives from subjects offered at A Level and our careers department will be available to discuss individual subjects beyond GCSE.
It is necessary to book in advance for 16+ Open Evening and booking will open in late summer 2023.
