Leavers’ Destinations

Over the last fifteen years, Bancroft’s has consistently sent almost all of our Upper Sixth students to the leading universities in the UK and North America, including Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities.

An increasing number of students have gained places on highly competitive degree apprenticeship programmes with the likes of EY, Dyson, PWC, and JP Morgan.

Others choose to enter directly into employment or take a gap year that usually involves some charitable/volunteering work overseas.

The post-18 options are increasing every year and our Careers Office can provide extensive and detailed guidance on all available options.

Bancroft’s students in 2026 are taking up 117 confirmed university places across 35 institutions and 84 named courses, reflecting both the diversity of their interests and the support they receive in shaping their futures.

The most popular courses this year were: Economics (all variants, 17); Medicine and Medical Sciences (16); Engineering (all variants, 15); Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (11); History (6); and Law (4).

Alongside these, students will pursue everything from Biochemistry and Film Production to Architecture and Veterinary Medicine, highlighting the remarkable breadth of the cohort’s choices.

The top university destinations were:

  • King’s College London with 11 students
  • University of Bristol with 10 students
  • University of Warwick with 10 students
  • Durham University with 8 students
  • Queen Mary University of London with 8 students
  • UCL (University College London) with 8 students

Many of their courses include professional placements, years in industry or other vocational elements, reflecting a growing emphasis on combining academic study with workplace experience.

Alongside university routes, two students have secured highly competitive degree apprenticeships with EY and Dyson, illustrating the increasing value placed on alternative pathways into professional careers.

Students receive tailored support for all pathways, including fortnightly sessions for aspiring Medics and dedicated preparation for Oxbridge applications.

Specialist staff provide practice interviews, admissions test guidance, and mentoring, while tutors and the Higher Education team advise on universities, apprenticeships, and US colleges.
