Bancroft’s Archives

Welcome to the School Archives. The aim of the Archive department is to manage and promote our school’s history through the resources of our extensive archive. We now have a considerable catalogued archive of nearly 3,000 items covering the 280+ years of the school’s history.  We are currently working on projects that will provide greater access to these items to current pupils, staff, Old Bancroftians and all interested parties.

The Archive Catalogue

General Items

The catalogue lists all the items in the archive. You can browse the lists or search for specific items. The archives are held securely on the school site. If you wish to view any specific items further, please contact the Archivists.

Digital Items

The catalogue holds those items that have currently been digitised. These include a range of items such as photos, event programmes and some full documents. However, this collection is still in its infancy but will be added to over time.

World War I and II

The catalogue also holds biographies of all Bancroftians who fell in both world wars.

The Bancroftian

We have been fortunate to have digitised all copies of The Bancroftian, the School magazine, from its first edition in 1892 to 1972. These can be searched using the link below. It is our intention to digitise the remaining copies of the magazine when funds allow.
