Badminton Success

Well done to our badminton team who are now officially the best in Redbridge!  The boys’ team, mainly from the Removes and L4s, beat Chadwell Heath Academy to become KS3 Redbridge Schools’ League Champions for 2013 (the final match had been delayed from before Christmas).

Preliminary matches against other Redbridge Schools had taken place in a round robin format with the top two teams meeting in the final, which was held at Bancroft’s.  A boys’ team and a girls’ team have both made it through to the second round of the Center Parcs National Schools Championships; Bancroft’s will represent Redbridge in the County Round, in which they complete against the best teams from other east London boroughs (such as Newham, Havering and Hackney).  This takes place in the Copper Box Arena at the Olympic Park, Stratford on Tuesday 25 February.  John Raw, who coaches the badminton teams, said that he was very proud of the teams’ achievements over the past year; he believes that this is the first time Bancroft’s has enjoyed such success in the sport.
