Bancroft’s Track & Field Stars Make Their Mark
We’re excited to share the remarkable achievements of two of our students, Caitlin and Natasha, at the 93rd English Schools' Track & Field Championships, held on 12th and 13th July at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium.
Caitlin delivered an impressive performance in the Intermediate Girls’ long jump competition, securing 4th place with a personal best of 5.64 metres. Ranked 6th among 17 competitors, Caitlin’s leap to 4th place is commendable. She narrowly missed out on a silver medal and an England vest by just 2cm, but she still has another year to aim for this prestigious honour.
The highlight of the event was Natasha’s spectacular victory in the Intermediate Girls’ 800m. After a smooth run in her heat, Natasha delivered an outstanding and tactical performance in the final, finishing first with a time of 2:09.65s.
This victory not only crowns her as the English Schools’ Champion but also secures her first international vest. Natasha represented England in the SIAB (Schools International Athletics Board) fixture against Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland on 20th July at Carmarthen Stadium.
Although Natasha was not feeling 100% for the SIAB international, she still delivered a commendable performance, finishing 4th.
Despite not achieving the dream ‘treble,’ Natasha’s accomplishments remain phenomenal. Being the Intermediate Girls’ 800m English Schools Champion, earning her first England vest, and representing the country at the SIAB international are incredible achievements.
We are incredibly proud of both Caitlin and Natasha, well done!
