Bancroft’s Welcomes First Explorer Scouts
The newly formed Explorer Scout Unit, which meets at Bancroft’s School Prep Hall, has invested the first cohort of Explorers into the Unit. The venue for the ceremony was the historic and impressive HMS Belfast, and the investiture of eight Explorer Scouts followed an activity day around the capital in which teams had to visit many places and answer questions by reading plaques, counting steps and observing statues.
The Unit is the second to open in Epping Forest South Scouting District and both of the units will be working closely together to provide a range of camps and activities for their members.
The investiture was attended by the Scouting District Commissioner, Rebecca Still, and Head, Mary Ireland, who is very supportive of the new Explorer provision in the district. As well as providing a meeting venue for the Unit, the School will be lending its extensive facilities to the running of the Unit.
