District Athletics Success

Pupils from the Thirds through to Upper Fourth took part in last week’s District Athletics Competition at Ashton Playing Fields, and what an event it was!

Across all year groups, our pupils delivered impressive performances, with podium finishes in nearly every event, personal bests, and even new records.

Thirds Highlights

Boys and girls placed 4th out of 20 schools:

🥇 Soraya broke the district record and won gold in the shot putt, throwing an incredible 8.89m.

🥈 Toby claimed silver in the 1500m, running 5:25.6.

🥈 Aaryan took silver in the high jump (1.25m).

🥈 Tanure also earned silver in the high jump (1.23m).

Removes Highlights

Strong performances saw Year 8 take 2nd place overall:

🥇 Seo won gold in the 1500m (5:16.3).

🥇 Georgi triumphed in the long jump (4.70m).

🥇 Sebastian secured gold in the discus (20.10m).

🥇 Ana Freeman took gold in the 800m (2:48.27).

🥈 Anastasia (1500m – 6:00.42), Jesse (Long Jump – 3.74m), Ariella (Discus – 17.58m), and Arya Singh (Javelin – 16.34m) all earned silver medals.

🥉 Cordelia won bronze in the triple jump (8.37m).

🥉 Ariella, Maisey, Jesse, and Inaaya grabbed bronze in the 4x100m relay.

Special mention: Soraya (from Year 7) also broke the school shot putt record!

Lower Fourth Highlights

After a number of matches, pupils came fourth overall here:

🥈 Annabel (300m – 49.73s), Rebecca (Triple Jump – 8.64m), and Laurent (200m – 24.46s) took silver—Laurent’s time also broke a school record!

🥉 Ololade (Discus – 18.98m) and Victor (100m – 11.50s in the finals) added bronze to the tally.

🥉 The 4x100m relay team—Laurent, Victor, Adam and Rafay—also claimed bronze.

Upper Fourth Highlights

Year 10 pupils matched Year 8’s overall 2nd place:

🥇 Atronna won gold in the high jump (1.35m).

🥈 May (1500m – 6.19), Ellie (Javelin – 19.13m), and Nathan (100m – 11.13s) brought in silver medals.

🥉 Emily (200m – 29.34), Ella (Long Jump – 4.17m), and Miles (1500m – 4.47) won bronze.

🥉 Arda earned double bronze in the 200m (24.22s) and long jump (5.3m).

🥉 Gus jumped 1.6m for bronze in the high jump.

🥉 Nathan, Arda, Miles, and Eddie brought home bronze in the 4x100m relay.
