Essex Met Indoor Cricket Title

The Essex Metropolitan Indoor Cricket League came down to the final night (Friday 28 March) with the Bancroft’s U15 boys needing to beat Frenford Cricket Club  to secure the U15 title by a single point from local rivals Wanstead Cricket Club.

Frenford batted first and got off to a flying start scoring 36-0 off the first 4 overs. A collapse then ensued with Rishi and Angad taking two wickets apiece and Tom Oliver 3 catches, together with a salmon-like leaping catch from captain Angad to dismiss Frenford for 44 all out. Angad and Tom Oliver then cruised to victory with 45-0.

Congratulations to all team members: Angad Nijjar, Tom Oliver, Will Hopkins, Sahil Handa, Rishi Roy-Mukherjee, Haaris Sohoye and Tom Mead. It was a long season which started way back in September but was brought to a successful and satisfactory conclusion;  ten victories and a single loss led to our first Premier League title triumph after seven years of trying against the best local cricket clubs. Well done to all the boys concerned.
