Half Term Trips
Over the February half term break, pupils across three year groups enjoyed unforgettable educational trips to Andalucía, Bordeaux and Salamanca.
Each trip offered pupils the chance to put classroom learning into practice, as well as gaining a cultural understanding of the city they visited.
Andalucía
Pupils explored some iconic sights, including the Real Alcázar de Sevilla, Las Setas, the Alhambra and the Mezquita-Catedral, gaining a deeper understanding of Spain’s rich history and architecture.
A hands-on Spanish cooking class was a particular highlight, where pupils prepared traditional gazpacho and paella before sitting down to enjoy their food for dinner. The group also wandered through the stunning Plaza de España, took part in a traditional ceramics workshop, and saw a fantastic flamenco show that captured the passion and energy of Andalusian culture.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux gave pupils the perfect opportunity to practise their French while soaking up local culture. A guided tour of the city helped bring its history to life, while a relaxing river cruise offered a different perspective on the region.
Pupils also climbed the impressive Dune du Pilat, explored attractions such as the Capucins Market, and visited museums.
Salamanca
Our Removes headed to Salamanca, spending their mornings studying Spanish at a local language school, developing their confidence and communication skills, before enjoying a full programme of cultural activities each afternoon.
During the week, pupils explored the city on a guided tour, visited the University of Salamanca, the oldest university in Spain, and crossed the historic Roman Bridge. They also visited the Art Deco museum, sampled traditional chocolate con churros, and took part in an energetic salsa and bachata dance lesson.
Staying with host families gave them a valuable insight into everyday Spanish life and helped bring their language learning to life.
