Inside Mini: Learning in Action

Last Thursday, our U6th Business and Geography students visited the Mini Plant in Oxford to see modern manufacturing and supply chain management firsthand. The visit proved particularly useful for their A Level studies, offering real examples of production methods and market responses.

Factory Tour

Natasha from U6th shared her thoughts on the day: “Actually seeing the assembly line working was brilliant. We learnt loads about how they maintain quality control for their European and American warranties – you don’t realise just how precise everything has to be until you see it properly.”

She noted some interesting points about Mini’s current strategy: “They showed us how they’re adapting to changes in the market. At the moment, they make their electric Minis in China, but they’re planning to start making them here in Oxford by 2026 because of how popular electric cars are getting in Europe.”

Industry Insights

Our tour guide Mike really knew his stuff about the car industry. As Natasha mentioned: “Mike explained all the different things affecting car manufacturing at the moment. It was proper useful – exactly the sort of examples we need for our exam answers to show we understand what’s actually happening in the industry.”
