Kindness Week
This year, our Allies Week grew into a whole-school Kindness Week. The aim was simple: to encourage kindness and allyship across the school community.
Led by Sixth Formers Martha, Minnie, and Lara, their assembly was delivered three times during the week which included a video of staff and pupils sharing what kindness means to them.
During form time, pupils were invited to reflect on the topic more deeply. Every year group also wrote messages of gratitude on luggage tags, which are now displayed on the Wall of Gratitude outside the Staff Common Room.
Pupils shared gratitude for friends, family, good food, and for being part of Bancroft’s.
At lunchtimes, Sixth Form and Upper Fourth ran a “Sprinkle Kindness” fundraiser. They sold out all 400 chocolate hearts and 400 cards. All money raised was donated to the NSPCC Kindness Challenge.
A well-attended event in the Atrium focused on allyship reflecting on what the term means to them and wrote their thoughts on colourful feathers, which will be displayed as wings outside our Great Hall.
As Mrs Coyne puts it, “Kindness costs nothing, but its effect can be priceless.”
Thank you to everyone who donated, took part and helped with supporting the events throughout the week.
