MFL Leaders’ Primary Fair

There was a decidedly continental feel about Bancroft’s today when our Lower Sixth (yr 12) Modern Foreign Language Leaders organised a Primary Languages Fair for year 6 children from our Prep School, Oaklands and Woodford Green Prep.

The children from the Prep dressed in red, white and blue to mark the day and had already been treated to a French themed lunch.   The afternoon started off with a rousing version of “One Day More!” from the cast of Les Misérables (Schools Edition) giving an exclusive preview of this term’s Senior Production. This was followed by a whole range of activities designed to make learning a language fun.  Children had the chance to experience some new foods – very smelly French cheeses, a selection of German sausages and a delicious looking Spanish paella.  They played games in French – Bingo and Snap – and were encouraged to hold sock puppet conversations in Russian and Spanish! They were also introduced to the French game of Pentanque.  Crepes, chocolat chaud and pain au chocolat were all on offer.   A noisy and fun-filled afternoon.
