Oxbridge 2014

We are delighted that eleven Bancroftians have been successful this year in being offered places at Cambridge and Oxford universities.

Their successes cover nine different subjects and ten different colleges Subject to grades in their forthcoming summer exams, seven of them will be heading up the M11 to Cambridge and two along the M40 to Oxford. Cambridge-bound are Milan Kapur (Medicine, King’s), Joanne Pham (Natural Science Physical, Downing), Catriona Phillips (Medicine, Magdalene), Harshal Babla (Economics, Homerton), Jasneet Sian (Spanish and Portuguese, St John’s), Aneeta Sylolapavan (Natural Science Physical, Fitzwilliam) and Anna Tindall (Computer Science, Clare).  Meanwhile, Kiran Benipal (Classics, Corpus Christi) and Joelle Clayton (Experimental Psychology, Brasenose) have secured places at Oxford.

For two of the eleven, the pressure is off.  Both Hugh Oxlade, who plans to read History at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, and Rory Sachs who has a place at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge for Geography, applied on the back of their outstanding A Level results from summer 2013 and so have unconditional places.  Unlike their fellow Bancroftians, they are able to relax over the next few months!

“We are delighted that the hard work and dedication that these students have shown over a number of years has been so richly rewarded.” said Head, Mary Ireland.  “These students have performed exceptionally well, the competition for these prestigious offers gets tougher every year; they are not just up against the best in this country, but also the best in the world.  We wish them all every success for the future.”
