Prep Girls are Redbridge Cross Country Champs

After three gruelling weeks of competition, the Prep Girls emerged victorious in the annual Redbridge Cross Country League. Every week the combined scores of the six runners from each participating school get tallied up, and every position gained counts towards an overall team score. Although the course at Claybury Park remains the same one-mile distance, the conditions and opposition changes. After a promising first two meets the Bancroft’s Prep girls went into the final meet on Thursday 18 October placed third overall with all six runners consistently finishing in the top 20 out of a field of 80 runners. However, the girls saved their best until last as Eleanor Channer finished second, Claudia Joarder fourth, Harriet Wood 8th with Alice Abbott, Nicole Nwalema  and Sara El-Khamlichi all finishing in the top 20. This really was an amazing team achievement as up to 15 school from the Borough of Redbridge enter the competition each year. Likewise, despite the competition being for U11s,  four out of the six squad members were either from the U10 or U9 age group.  Well done to these young runners.
