Rafi’s Arkwright Scholarship Success
We are thrilled to announce that Lower Sixth student Rafi has been awarded the esteemed Arkwright Scholarship – the UK’s top engineering scholarship for young people.
The Arkwright Scholarships are granted to dedicated 16-year-olds through a rigorous selection process. Rafi applied during his Fifth Form year after being encouraged by his Design Technology teachers.
We caught up with Rafi to learn more about his experience. When asked how he felt about his success, he shared his excitement:
“I was definitely really excited. It’s a long wait – I had to wait a few months.”
Rafi also outlined the detailed application process:
“You start by doing a project – it can be anything as long as it’s engineering-based. Then, you submit the project and take an aptitude test. It’s like a convention test where you’re given various tasks to design quickly. If you do well in both, you’re invited for an interview.”
Discussing what the scholarship means for him, Rafi highlighted the opportunities ahead:
“They offer internships and networking events.”
Now in his first year of Sixth Form, Rafi is studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science. Looking to the future, he hopes to attend King’s College London or Imperial College London, and he believes the Arkwright Scholarship will be a valuable addition to his university applications.
“It’s great for university applications. It shows you can manage external projects effectively.”
This is an outstanding achievement. Well done, Rafi! We can’t wait to see where your Sixth Form journey takes you next.
