Ramadan Celebrations

1st May 2025 Whole School
This Ramadan, the Bancroft’s Muslim Association (BMA) brought our school community together through a series of reflective events that encouraged connection and understanding.

Iftar Night

In a heartwarming evening of togetherness, around 30 pupils gathered for an Iftar Night at Wood Oven in South Woodford. The event provided an opportunity for students to break their fast in good company, strengthening bonds outside the classroom over a delicious meal. Organised by Aliza, the night was filled with laughter and ensuring the night ran smoothly.

This event was a reminder of the importance of community in Islam, reinforcing the values of gratitude, patience, and togetherness.

Prayers

The tradition of holding congregational Dhuhr Salah alongside the regular Jumu’ah, with both brothers and sisters coming together in jama’ah is a continuing tradition. These moments of collective worship created a space for spiritual pause during the busy school day, reinforcing a sense of unity and mindfulness. Mr. Ali also delivered thought-provoking reminders on the lives of the Sahabah and the importance of prioritising the Hereafter, encouraging students to deepen their connection with faith.

Prep Assembly

Members of the BMA delivered presentations to all four year groups in the Prep School, helping younger students understand the significance of Ramadan. A particularly impressive contribution came from students in the Thirds, who crafted and presented their own session, complete with an engaging quiz that sparked plenty of and questions.

Khutbahs After Salah

Khutbahs were organised after every Dhuhr Salah, led by Mr. Ali. These sessions provided an opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of the spiritual significance of the month and reflect on key Islamic teachings.

The Khutbahs covered a variety of topics, focusing on the examples of the Sahabah, such as Salman al-Farsi (RA), and the lessons enhanced their learning of devotion, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. In addition, the regular Jumu’ah Khutbahs were led by students, which provided a platform for reflection and learning within the BMA community.
