Removes Salamanca Trip

Our Removes soaked up the best of Salamanca during the half term break. From salsa, tapas, churros and stunning sights, they made the most of the local culture - a perfect opportunity to practice their Spanish.

Hsian told us about his experience.

“Upon arrival in Salamanca, we were warmly greeted by our host families and taken to their homes, where my roommates and I soon met the adorable house kitten, Casper. We then settled for the night after getting to know each other over a home cooked spanish dinner. The next day we were shown the way to our language school by Ana, our kind host. Our first school experience was filled with learning, laughter, and enjoyment.

We soon got into the routine of going to school in the mornings, then home for lunch until we would leave our host around 4 to meet up in the main square for our afternoon activities which included salsa dancing, a tour of the city, a visit to the oldest and most prestigious university in Spain and a delicious tapas experience. Later in the evenings, we were given approximately 1 hour of free time to explore Salamanca which my friends and I mostly filled with tasting the local cuisine as well as exploring the square.

On the day of our departure, we visited Segovia with our local tour guide that had previously toured us around Salamanca. First, we visited the Alcazar which was amazing to see as it inspired Disney’s original castle! We then learnt some interesting facts about the aqueduct, a really cool fact about it was that it is held together purely by the structure of the stones, you even see indentation in the stones from where the cranes picked them up.

I felt that the entire experience allowed me to practise and improve my Spanish from a different perspective than in our usual classroom setting and gave me an insight to everyday Spanish life and culture.

Thank you Ms Bogado and Mr Urreaga for arranging such a special trip.”
