Rugby League U13 Player of the Year

Rugby league player Alex Pentecost (L4S)  was awarded the Liontrust U13 Player of the Year at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on Tuesday 6 November.  He was presented with his award by two professional Rugby League players, Tommy Lee and Olsi Krasniq, who play for the London Broncos. This award is judged from all eighteen Rugby League clubs throughout London, so represents quite an achievement.

Alex is building up a very impressive rugby CV and continues to juggle playing for both league and union clubs.  Alex has played for London Skolars Rugby League club since 2011; earlier this year he was selected for the U13 Rugby League Regional Player Development Squad and is vice captain for the North Origin U13 selection.  He is also the Captain for the Saracens Amateurs RFC youth U14 which plays in Middlesex youth division 1.   Through playing for Saracens Amateurs, he was spotted for the Middlesex School of Rugby .

Alex plans to take his Rugby union refereeing qualification (entry levels 1 and  2) at some point this season, and hopefully he will also be finding the time to take a tag rugby coaching course. (Alex has already been involving in coaching tag rugby for the London Youth Games.)

Fred Pentecost, Alex father, said, “As a family we are very proud of Alex’s determination, work ethic and focus which have reaped benefits within both codes of rugby.  Rugby, in whichever format, is far further reaching than just a ball game and has taught Alex the importance of inclusivity, teamwork and trust.”
