Scholarships and Awards

At Bancroft’s, we value excellence, both in the classroom and beyond it.

Academic Scholarships

From September 2026, Bancroft’s will offer a limited number of financial scholarships to pupils entering the Senior School at 11+. These scholarships are open to pupils from both Bancroft’s Prep School and external feeder schools. They are not means tested and are awarded for academic merit.

At 11+ entry, scholarships are awarded on the basis of candidates’ performance in the entrance assessments and interview. There is no separate test, and all candidates are automatically considered. Parents are informed at the point of offer if a scholarship is to be awarded.

For pupils progressing from Bancroft’s Prep to the Senior School, selection is based on a review of long-term academic performance and an interview conducted in January of Year 6.

Scholarships run alongside the School’s Bursary programme, which remains means tested and separately funded. Together, these schemes reflect the School’s commitment both to widening access and to recognising the highest levels of academic ability and curiosity

Music Awards

Music Awards are available for 11+ and 16+ entry and are offered to pupils with exceptional musical ability. Award holders receive free tuition in one instrument and take an active role in the musical life of the school.

We are delighted to offer Music Awards to talented pupils who demonstrate exceptional musical ability and dedication. As Music Award holders, pupils will be provided with numerous opportunities to showcase their talents and enhance their musical skills.

Application and Audition Process

Receiving a Music Award gave me the confidence to see my strength as a musician and provided opportunities to perform as a soloist in the most incredible venues.

Other Drapers’ Awards

Once pupils join the school there are opportunities each year to achieve an additional variety of awards in creative subjects, Drama, Sport, for contributions to the school community as well as for the other key subject areas; these awards are given annually. We aim to recognise excellence and contribution in all areas of school life and for embodying and contributing to our school values; we try to ensure that all our pupils are given opportunities to win recognition for their contributions and achievements during their time in the school.

Awards will be based on the performance and commitment shown in the relevant area during each school year. As with other awards (but with the exception of Music), Sport, Art, Computing and DT, Drama and Community Awards are given every year and can be re-awarded.
