BBC Young Composer Success
We are delighted to share that Shravan has been Highly Commended in the 2025 BBC Young Composer Competition for his piece The Clumsy Clown. The BBC Young Composer programme champions emerging music makers aged 12 to 18 across the UK, inviting submissions in every style from jazz and electronic to orchestral and choral.
This year’s competition attracted more than 400 entries, all judged anonymously on creativity, originality and the strength of the musical idea. The panel described the standard as exceptionally high, making 2025 one of their most demanding years yet.
Shravan earned his place on the Highly Commended list in the Upper Junior Category for ages 15 to 16. It is a brilliant achievement in such a wide-ranging and competitive field and places him among a small group of standout young composers nationally.
Selected entrants in the BBC Young Composer programme are supported through workshops, mentoring and creative opportunities with professional musicians, including projects with the BBC Concert Orchestra. It is an exciting platform and a richly deserved spotlight for Shravan’s talent.
We are hugely proud of him and look forward to hearing what he creates next.
