GCSE Results 2026

20th August 2026 Whole School
Hugs, high fives and handshakes were the order of the day as our Year 11 pupils celebrated an exceptionally strong set of GCSE results.

Half of all GCSEs were awarded Grade 9 this year, an outstanding achievement. The wider picture was just as impressive, with 77% at 9–8 and 92% at 9–7.

40 pupils achieved a clean sweep of 8s and 9s, almost a third of the year group.

Celebrating alongside students and staff, Alex Frazer, Head of Bancroft’s, commented:

“Following on from last week’s excellent A Level news, I am thrilled about these superb GCSE results achieved by our extremely talented Fifth Formers. They have risen above even the exceptional standards already shown by their predecessors in recent years at Bancroft’s, and they have learned a lot about themselves and the value of perseverance and self-belief in the process!

My profound thanks as well to all my colleagues, who have taught, encouraged and supported them so assiduously.”

There was further cause for celebration among our younger mathematicians.

All 50 Year 10 pupils who took GCSE Mathematics a year early achieved Grade 9.

They will now go on to study the FSMQ in Additional Mathematics, an advanced qualification designed to stretch strong mathematicians beyond GCSE level.

The strength of our Year 11 cohort was evident across STEM, languages, humanities and the creative arts.

Bancroft’s has long been recognised for the strength of its STEM education, but we are equally proud of the achievements of our students across the creative arts and humanities. We see the art in our science and the science in our art; creativity, critical thinking and imagination enrich every discipline.

Michael Thompson, Deputy Head Academic

Throughout the year, I have been impressed by their strength of character and kindness. They have found such a positive balance between academic achievement and developing their interests, taking part in creative clubs, educational trips and sporting events alongside their studies.

Miia Sparkes, Head of Fifth Form (Year 11)

We congratulate every member of the Fifth Form and wish them every success in their next steps.

Results correct as of Thursday 20 August 2026.
