Sixth Form Life

A community where independence and support go hand in hand

Life in the Sixth Form at Bancroft’s feels different from the rest of school. You’ll have the freedom to manage your time and studies like a university student, but with the backing of tutors, mentors and friends who know you well. Sixth Form is about stretching yourself, trying new experiences, and building the confidence to thrive beyond school.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Shared Sixth Form common room and café — a space to relax, study and socialise.

  • Sixth Form library and seminar room — quiet study and independent research.

  • Weekly sport on Wednesday afternoons — from competitive team sports to fitness, lifesaving and climbing.

Belonging to a House

Every Sixth Former is part of a house, with a Housemaster/mistress and tutor team offering daily support. Houses give you a community within the wider school, with opportunities for drama, music, sport, competitions and leadership.

Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

  • House Drama Festival and senior school productions

  • Music ensembles and concerts (from choir and orchestra to student-led bands)

  • CCF and Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award

  • Clubs and societies across every subject and interest — or create your own

  • Leadership roles in Student Congress, mentoring younger pupils, or as a House Prefect

Trips & Adventures

Sixth Form is packed with opportunities to go beyond the classroom. From academic field trips (Norfolk biology, international economics lectures) to sports tours, expeditions and cultural visits, there are chances to travel, explore and learn in different settings.

“I love the independence you get in the Sixth Form — but there’s always someone there if you need help. It feels like the best preparation for university life."
