Drapers’ Hall 2025

23rd April 2025 Whole School
As many readers may well know, our School was established by the Drapers’ Company, a City livery company, following the instructions of our founder Francis Bancroft who left his fortune for that purpose. Our close relationship with the Drapers continues to this day, and with it come regular opportunities to visit the splendid surroundings of Drapers’ Hall in the City.

Last term I had the pleasure of attending my first annual Drapers’ Concert, where a large number of our talented Bancroft’s musicians get to perform in a venue whose acoustics allow them to raise the roof at a level beyond what can be achieved at school. Those in the audience will have been struck not only by the quality of the musicianship, whether through instruments or voice, but also by the scope of the repertoire, from classical through barbershop and rock to exuberant Irish fiddling for St Patrick’s Day.

The evening provided excellence and fun in equal measure, and I was extremely proud of all our performers and the staff who work so hard to encourage and develop them.
