Travel and Transport
At Bancroft's we are mindful of the environment as well as the safety and wellbeing of our pupils. This is reflected in our school travel policy. We are fortunate that the School is served by good public transport links.
When thinking about the daily school run, we ask that you please:
- Stagger your arrival and departure times to and from School
- Make use of public transport
- Arrange to share lifts, where possible
- Drop your children a short distance away from School: a walk is healthy and good for them
Public transport:
- Buses: 20; 179; 379; 397; 657; 679; W13
- Tube: Buckhurst Hill & Woodford Stations (both Central Line) are a walkable distance from the School. Buses are available directly outside South Woodford and Loughton Stations (also both Central Line) and stop outside Bancroft’s
- Overground: Chingford Station is a short bus ride or a 35 minute walk
School Bus Service:
We are pleased to offer a school bus service, operated by Zeelo.
In the interest of safety:
- Please be considerate to our neighbours and mindful of local by-laws when dropping or picking up by car at school. The High Road is an urban clearway and parking there is illegal. The gravel area directly outside the Senior School entrance is owned by the Corporation of London and is subject to Epping Forest bylaws
- Pupils may be dropped off and picked up on the School site before 07:45 and after 16:20. Between 07:45 and 16:20 parents may not park on the School site unless they have an appointment and have requested a parking space
- Pupils should only cross the High Road at the traffic lights
- Bicycles must be securely locked and put in the secure designated area immediately upon arrival. They must not be ridden within the school grounds
- If waiting in your car, please turn off the engine to reduce emissions
