Alex Scarrow Wows Removes!
Our Removes (year 8) pupils had a real treat on Wednesday 25 September with a visit from author Alex Scarrow. The writer of the exciting TimeRiders series for young adults had them all convulsed with laughter one moment, the highlight being his impersonation of Star Wars’ Yoda as Adolf Hitler, and then silent the next as he read them the gripping opening chapters of the first book from the series. With a background as a would-be rock star and then a computer games designer Alex Scarrow was officially “cool”. The queue of pupils afterwards who wanted to buy copies of books, have photos taken and grab a quick autograph was testimony to the success of the visit. School Librarian Mrs Squires said that “this was definitely the most popular author visit we have had. Alex Scarrow’s book are becoming more popular amongst this year group and it will be great if the talk inspired more of the pupils to read them, especially the boys!” While pupils Martin Prusa and Charlotte Wyatt agreed, “He was enthusiastic and funny about his books and really encouraged us explore books which might be out of our comfort zones.”
