Bancroft’s Arkwright Scholars

Three fifth formers  have been awarded prestigious Arkwright Scholarships.  Charles Blake, Oliver Hague and Nicholas Slack have all been selected to receive the awards after successfully passing the aptitude paper demonstrating their flair and originality in solving Engineering Design problems and being interviewed.  A team exercise gave  the students with an experience of the challenges and excitement of engineering related careers.

There were over 900 applicants for the award this year from 256 schools.The boys will be presented with their Scholarships later this year at a ceremony hosted by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.  During this day Scholars will have an opportunity to meet their sponsors and other scholars.</p> <p style=”text-align: justify;”>The Arkwright Trust was founded in 1990 and supports promising young engineers during their A Levels; the students also carry the status of “Arkwright Scholar” into university. The Scholarships are supported by individuals, companies , institutions and the services.  Major sponsors include: Rolls Royce, Balfour Beatty and the Royal Air Force.
