Best Ever A Level Results 2009
89% of A Levels sat by Bancroft’s students have been awarded grade A or B: the best ever result for the school. A fantastic total of 47 students achieved three or more A grades, with fifteen gaining four or more A grades. One of these students, Isobel Simpson said, “Obviously I’m thrilled; this morning was really nerve wracking just waiting to get my results.” while Katie Crumpton was “Ecstatic – I didn’t think I would ever get four As!” Amongst the high achievers were identical twins Jasmine and Jade Hu who notched up identical scores of 4 grade As apiece. A total of thirteen students will be taking up places at Oxbridge colleges, while a further eight are set to become medics and two are embarking on dentistry courses. Against the national trend, Bancroft’s boys slightly outperformed the girls this year.
Head, Mary Ireland, was delighted with these results, “All the hard work our staff and students have put in has paid off in this set of fantastic results. These students don’t just work hard academically but they also work hard in so many different aspects of their lives completing their gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, undertaking leadership roles in the CCF and playing for our sports teams. Our students are incredibly focussed in their approach to studies, they know that they have to achieve the grades to get into the universities of their choice.”
