Book Award for Deputy Head

Congratulations to Mr Joe Layburn, Deputy Head of the Prep School, whose second children’s novel, Street Heroes has won the Tower Hamlets Children’s Book Award. It faced tough competition- Ros Asquith came second and Pete Johnson third.   The awards ceremony took place on Friday 25 November at the Idea Store a big, modern library in Whitechapel and there were lots of children in attendance  who’d read the book..

The book award is given to the best fiction book for ages 10 – 13 voted for by pupils in years 5 – 8 in Tower Hamlets’ Schools.  The aims of the competition are to encourage children to read, to bring children together to enable debate and discussion about books and to encourage children to share the pleasure of reading.
