GCSE successes for Bancroft’s pupils

GCSE1Pupils have been celebrating a best-ever set of GCSE results, with 81% of papers being awarded an A* or A grade and 96% achieving A*/A/B.  Seventy four members of the year group achieved A* or A grades in at least eight subjects. Amongst the success stories were the seven pupils who distinguished themselves by achieving ten or more A*s (Ayako Henson, Alaina Wong,  William Flynn, Arun Kirupakaran, Samuel Agbamu, Joshua Strycharczyk and Prajen Sylolpaven).  In addition, Ayako Henson has been identified as one of the eight top candidates in the English group of subjects by the AQA board.  Altogether there were 840,700 entries in the AQA English group.  Ayako now has the chance to become the overall winner of “AQA Top Candidate in English” and possibly even “Student of the Year” for GCSEs.

Head, Mary Ireland, said, “This is the first time most of these students have faced the pressures of public examinations.  It’s always a relief on results day for them to know that their hard work has paid off.  We are delighted to see so many smiling faces this morning.”
