GCSEs 2021
Following on from their Prom, members of Bancroft’s Fifth Form turned up a little bleary eyed to collect their GCSE results. Rumour has it that many had only got to bed at 2.30am, whilst one reveller turned up still dressed in his Prom suit. After one night of celebrating with their friends, their a fantastic set of results offered them a second chance to celebrate.
This year group has faced major disruptions to their studies over the past 18 months, which have seen pupils and teachers alike adapting to new ways of working and rising to new challenges. It is a reflection of their determination and abilities that they have performed so well in their GCSEs. Following the national trend, the number of top grades saw an increase and congratulations to all those who recieived a clean sweep of grade 9s. However, this year’s focus should not be so much on the grades and percentages but what this group of young people have learnt about themselves over this turbulent period.
We look forward to welcoming the majority of the year group back in September and wish those who are moving on the very best for their future. Here’s hoping that their A Level experience will be more settled and “normal”.
On behalf of the Governors, congratulations to all our GCSE and A Level pupils on your excellent results, achieved in such difficult and testing circumstances. Thanks also to our wonderful staff for your huge effort and commitment in guiding our pupils to these excellent outcomes.
