The Application Process

To apply for an Assisted Place please follow these steps:

Step 1:
Applicants must complete an Initial Assessment of Income Form (IAIF). This asks for outline financial information and does not need any supporting financial documentation. This form must be completed by the IAIF deadline stated on our website which is usually two weeks prior to the general registration deadline.

Step 2:
If you meet the financial criteria, you will be asked to register online with a reduced registration fee of £20. If you do not meet the financial criteria, you can still apply for a full fee paying place by registering and paying the full registration fee for your child’s application.

Step 3:
After registration, which must be completed by the published deadline, the means-tested process will be administered on our behalf by an independent company, Bursary Assessment Associates. You will be required to provide more detailed financial information and provide them with supporting documentation.

Step 4:
If you meet our financial criteria and if your child is successful in the entrance exam and is offered an Assisted Place at Bancroft's, you will need to pay a reduced deposit of £100 when submitting the Acceptance Form. All Assisted Places are subject to an annual financial review.

Make sure you return forms and copies of supporting documents by the dates given. We cannot process delayed Assisted Place applications, and you may potentially forfeit an Assisted Place.

Applications for Assisted Places at the School are highly competitive, and only a small number are available.

In line with GDPR, copies of supporting documents for candidates not considered and candidates who have not accepted their offer are destroyed as confidential waste, once the admissions process has finished.

To consider your application, we will require details and financial information for both parents. If you are unable to provide this information for the second parent/guardian, then please ask them to complete and submit the form separately. Please note that we may, under exceptional circumstances consider an application where information is not provided for both parents. However, you will be required to provide us with documentation and reason(s) in support of this.

Once the financial assessment criteria has been met and verified, places are awarded based on performance in the entrance exam, school reports and interview.

If there is no other person with legal/parental responsibility, please give brief details under Single Parent Explanation. The financial information fields for Parent/Guardian two should be completed with No or N/A.

Bancroft's School reserves the right to reject any application where false, misleading or incomplete information has been supplied.
