Local MP visits School
Eleanor Laing MP visited the School on Friday to talk to Government and Politics students. Although she is the MP for our neighbouring constituency (Epping Forest), this was Ms Laing’s first visit to the School during a working day; she was most impressed by what she saw, especially the “proper” lecture theatre! She spoke to the group about her role as an MP before opening the floor to questions from students. As expected from Bancroftians, the questions dispelled any lingering myths about political apathy amongst the young. Topics ranged from the current crisis in Libya, through proposed NHS reforms to career MPs and women in Parliament, with our Sixth Formers showing that they have a lively interest in politics and current affairs.
