Modern Foreign Languages Fair 2016
On Thursday 3 March our Sixth Form MFL (Modern Foreign Language) leaders group organised a MFL Fair for pupils from our Prep School and also nearby Woodford Green Preparatory School.
The event started at lunchtime with a special French themed lunch courtesy of Marc and his catering team. This saw the Dining Room decked out in tricoleurs and a menu entirely in French. During the afternoon, the Sixth Formers ran various stalls in the Great Hall, which included playing Bingo with French numbers; a Treasure Hunt around the Hall with clues being in French and a French maths challenge. The year 4 and 5 pupils also got the chance to test their skills at boules – the national game of France. One of the most popular stalls was the food tasting one, giving the children the opportunity to taste some French and Spanish delicacies; the eclairs and madeleines proved more popular than some rather pungent cheeses. Refreshments were served including chocolat chaud and croissants. The afternoon introduced the children to languages in a wider context beyond the classroom and they all seemed to have great fun while they learnt some new phrases.
Our Sixth Formers, aided by Mrs Whalley, worked hard as a team to plan the event and their own enjoyment was evident.
