Murali’s Visit Inspires Cricketers
On Monday 27 June, our cricketers were fortunate enough to benefit from a Masterclass in spin bowling by a legend of the game.
Record breaking Muttiah Muralitharan, who took 800 test wickets in his career, visited the school to share a few “tricks of the trade” with boys aged from 11 to 18. Mr Lever said, “this is a rare opportunity for players of all age groups to see up close a true master in action. Muralitharan was able to show the boys the finer points of his art and some of our better players had once in a lifetime opportunity to face international bowling.” Current Cricket Captain Nigel Jacobs, who was one of the boys chosen to face Muralitharan’s bowling, said that he was “honoured to have this chance.”
On his arrival, Muralitharan was surrounded by cricketers requesting photos and autographs; he then went on to a question and answer session with the boys before giving invaluable advice and a demonstration of the skill which has made him a cricketing legend.
