<p style=”text-align: justify;”><img style=”margin-bottom: 10px; float: left; margin-right: 10px;” src=”images/stories/u196web.jpg” alt=”u196web” width=”317″ height=”227″ />Last week was a truly great one for our netballers, culminating in the National Netball Finals.  The U19s travelled to Southampton with their victory in the John Kelsall Tournament in Brentwood still fresh in their minds.  On Wednesday 17 they competed in this annual tournament, winning all  four games in their section  before beating hosts Brentwood in the semi final and then King’s Canterbury in the tournament finals.  Meanwhile, the U15s also travelled to Brentwood to play in the Georgia Cordery Cup: they played 5 games, winning 4 and drawing 1 to win the tournament.</p> <p style=”text-align: justify;”>The U19 knew that they would face a tough time in the prestigious Nationals on Saturday.  This was a meeting of the top 18 netballing schools and colleges in the country and every match was going to count!  Many of the teams were representing large Sixth Form Colleges, where there are thousands of girls from whom to pick the team.  In their section, they played 9 games, losing only to Roedean (9-11) in a very physical game.  As section winners, they moved on to face Cardinal Newman in the semi finals.  Unfortunately, they lost 7-12, but in the 3th/4th place play off against Sharnbrook (Bedford), they won 12-10 to finish in Bronze Position.  The girls ‘old adversaries Barking Abbey, were the winners of the tournament, which meant that the two London and South East teams dominated the top positions, coming first and third. Miss Telford was justifiably very proud of her team: “a great weekend!”</p> <p style=”text-align: justify;”>The squad was: Georgina Andes (Captain), Jasmye Robinson Martin (Vice Captain), Lucy Swayne, Helen Keys, Sophie Pluck, Monika Patel, Sophie Luck, Becky Coomber, Kris Sim, Anna Hubbard, Izzy Heard, Kike Solanke.</p> <p style=”text-align: center;”><img style=”vertical-align: middle;” src=”images/stories/u19_finalsweb.jpg” alt=”u19_finalsweb” width=”299″ height=”244″ /></p> <p style=”text-align: justify;”> </p> <p>Matches played:</p> <table border=”0″> <tbody style=”text-align: left;”> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>v Woodhouse Grove</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Won 17-2</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>v Petroc</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Won 17-7</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>v Royal Grammar School, Leeds</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Won 16-5</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>v Sharnbrook</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Won 16-10</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>v Oakham</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Won 16-4</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>v Baines</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Won 10-7</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>v Wrekin College</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Won 13-9</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>v Roedean</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Lost 9-11</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”> </td> <td style=”text-align: left;”> </td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>SEMI FINALS: v Cardinal Newman</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Lost 7-12</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”>3th/4th PLAY OFF: Sharnbrook</td> <td style=”text-align: left;”>Won 12-10</td> </tr> <tr style=”text-align: left;”> <td style=”text-align: left;”> </td> <td style=”text-align: left;”> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
