New Cricket Records

The 1st XI game against Brentwood on Saturday was an outstanding one.  It saw  two new Bancroft’s records set.  Firstly, 619 runs scored off 90 overs, including 27 sixes and 10 balls lost hit into Epping Forest,  which is the highest run aggregate recorded in a day’s cricket at Bancroft’s.  Also, Bancroft’s total of 330 – 5 was a new school record for an innings total, beating the previous 288 set 6 years ago by some distance. Bancroft’s elected to bat and from the start Brentwood’s bowlers toiled on a dry true wicket. Bancroft’s innings was built round a second consecutive century scored by skipper Nigel Jacob, well supported by Daniel Willoughby who scored 72 not out.  Brentwood’s batsmen began the response in the same positive style keeping up with the run rate for 35 overs but in the end the total proved just too far for them.

Bancroft’s 330 – 5 (45 overs), (N Jacob 148). Brentwood 289 – 4 (45 overs)
