OBs honoured at St James’ Palace

<p style=”text-align: justify;”>Sixteen of our former pupils were invited to St James’ Palace on Wednesday 30 November 2011. Here they were presented with their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards by the scheme’s founder, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT. Bancroft’s pupils have a history of DofE success: consistently achieving amongst the highest number of Gold Awards for any School in the country; however, it is unusual to have quite such a large number of pupils invited to attend the same ceremony! Most of the pupils left Bancroft’s a year ago in June 2010, so the ceremony also acted as a happy reunion with old friends.
<p style=”text-align: justify;”>The Gold Award is the pinnacle of achievement in the scheme, usually taking a two year period to complete. Participants have to show sustained commitment in a variety of fields including community service and physical activity. They also need to complete a demanding expedition and attend a residential course.
<p style=”text-align: justify;”>The School recently celebrated the achievements of younger pupils at both Bronze and Silver levels
<p style=”text-align: center;”><img style=”vertical-align: bottom;” src=”images/stories/DoE_St_James_website.jpg” alt=”DoE_St_James_website” width=”448″ height=”299″ />
<p style=”text-align: center;”>
