Lower fourth art students have once again been successful in Open-City’s Architecture in Schools competition.

This term Ms Ward’s group has been working on the brief, to design a “Community Learning Hub” with the architects Stanton Williams, who have just won Building Design’s coveted ‘Architect of the Year’ Award.  The project included a building study of the Barbican Centre.

The class entry has won both the KS3 Imaginative Design Award and KS3 Drawing Award. For the drawing award judges were impressed by the drawings submitted from the whole class from Bancrofts and chose four joint overall winners: Alex Schumacher, Emma Attwood, Amrita Robertson and Kimran Rana.

The class model and winning drawings were exhibited at the Awards evening on December 13 at the Cowcross Gallery in central London,  when three of the four overall winners were awarded their prizes.  The Academy of Urbanism has requested that the work remained  on display for their conference the following day.
