Olympiad Success

Many congratulations to Ben Yelverton (U6N) for achieving a Gold award in the British Physics Olympiad.  This means that he is in the top 50 out of over 1,600 students who participated across the UK: a terrific achievement.

Lorcan Murphy (U6S)  also did very well in the Olympiad receiving a Bronze I award;  a further 9 Bancroftians received Commendations.

The paper was designed to stretch and challenge the top young physicists in the country in a national competition, with every question presenting a real challenge!

Students who achieved a Gold award will be invited to participate in the next round in the British Physics Olympiad competition, namely the selection process for the National Physics Olympiad Team which competes in the Worldwide Physics Olympiad competition.

Congratulations also to Adan Mordcovich (U6S) who has gained a Distinction in the Senior Maths Olympiad.  Nationally, about 100,000 pupils sat the first round of this competition, the Senior Maths Challenge, with the top 1000 reaching the next stage, the Senior Maths Olympiad. Adan’s result places him comfortably within the top 250 pupils in the elite Olympiad, which is an outstanding achievement.
