Prep School Rugby Festival

On Wednesday 14 November, six teams from around Essex (and Bristol) took part in the annual Bancroft’s Preparatory Rugby Festival at West Grove. Each year Bancroft’s host the festival with the main aim being for every team to put into practice what they have been working hard towards during the first half-term.

This year Bancroft’s entered two teams made up of Prep 1 and Prep 2 boys. The A team did particularly well as they finished second overall beating Brentwood Prep School (28-21), Loyola School (42-0) and drawing with St Cedds of Chelmsford (14-14). Their only loss during the day came against eventual winners Colston’s Boys School of Bristol (0-40).

The Bancroft’s Barbarians failed to win a game; however, as the team was made up of boys in the Prep 1s, they had faced  particularly tough opposition from the older boys.  They  worked hard and were involved in some close games, which was not always shown in the final  scores,  they even managed to score some tries.
