The Prep Cross Country Runners have had a busy and successful week.  Twenty three Prep 1 (year 5) and Prep 2 (year 6) children have represented the School at two meets, with great success.  On Thursday 4 October the team took part in the first round of the U11 Redbridge Cross Country League at Claybury Park. Running first the girls performed superbly as all six runners finished in the top 10 out of the 70 runners. Eleanor Channer finished second overall despite being in Prep 1. In the boys race Max Harding, also in the Prep 1s, won the race overall with James Beardwell finishing fourth. The team now go into the two remaining rounds eager to win the team title after making such a good start.   The second race was the Copped Hall U11 Run on Sunday 7 October, which featured over 160 runners from around the Redbridge and Epping area. As well as a great turn out by Bancroft’s Prep children and parents, everyone who ran performed fantastically. The great Hall provided a glorious setting for the run, but the course was still a one-mile slog over hills and through the forest. Particular congratulations go to James Beardwell who won the race with a time of 6:27 and Harriet Wood who finished third overall in the girls’ race.
