Social Entrepreneurs 2011

SEP_008v2

Following the success of last year’s Social Entrepreneurs Project, all members of the L4 have been challenged to come up with creative business ideas to turn £10 seed capital into £100 profit for the charity Hope HIV. As all profits are donated to the charity,  pupils learn what it means to make a real difference. For further details on the Social Entrepreneurs Project see:  http://www.hopehiv.org/Groups/165828/HOPEHIV/SCHOOLS/SEP/SEP.aspx

Some of the projects last year were outstanding and the Lower Fourth raised over £7,000 in profit all of which went to the charity. We hope the current Lower Fourth will raise the bar and make even more!  So far some of the projects have shown great ingenuity and enterprise and we are confident they will reach this goal.

Shivani Sheth has designed a Bancroft’s themed Top Trumps game; Etienne Caswell and Luke Lycett are selling leavers’ hoodies to the Prep 2s; Aanand Sood and Kavin Vijayakumar are running a scrap metal business; Shreeyam Kacker has created a new game ‘Escape from Bancroft’s’ (Playstation and PC compatible); Charlotte Carver has produced a very attractive Bancroft’s calendar.  One group has organised a fashion show involving local retailers and has even persuaded a top model agency to donate a raffle prize.  Another group is organising a fete at West Grove.   In addition a whole variety of drinks, cupcake, and jewellery companies have been set up.

At the end of the process the groups and individual pupils who  have organised the most creative and profitable businesses will be asked to present a pitch to a specially assembled “Dragon’s Den” panel, and try to convince them  to invest in their companies!
