<p style=”text-align: center;”>
<p style=”text-align: justify;”>On Saturday 23 March the Great Hall was packed for a special 275 Anniversary concert. The evening displayed the many musical talents of Bancroft’s pupils, from the 3rds playing in the Second Orchestra or singing in the Junior Choir to one of our Sixth Form Music Scholars Ben Yelverton, who performed a piano solo with the First Orchestra. It was an evening full of variety too, the Bancroft’s Swingers warmed us up with their usual rousing performance and the Bancroft’s Singers reprised their rendition of Haydn’s Insanae et Vanae Curae which they had previosuly sung at the 275 Anniversary Service. Dr Stuart Hunn did a fantastic job of introducing the evening and keeping things flowing with fascinating Bancroft trivia, even when faced with some longer than expected pauses.
<p style=”text-align: justify;”>The climax of the evening was a performance of The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah (a work contemporary with the foundation of the School) by a massed choir of pupils, members of staff, parents and OBs accompanied by the First Orchestra.
<p style=”text-align: justify;”>Thanks must go to Mr Roger Bluff and Mrs Caroline Foinette, as well as our committed visiting music teachers, for all their work. As one OB remarked, “It was simply stupendous!”
