Tennis Season has Begun at Bancroft’s

Whilst the sunshine was sorely missing this first week of the Summer term, the tennis fun and fixtures were not!

The boys U13A and B players certainly lit up the grey skies with an unbeaten week in their round robin matches in the LTA’s Team Tennis competition.

They achieved convincing wins over St Paul’s Way, Forest, St Bonaventure’s and Brentwood so well done to Eashan, Arhan, Spencer, Samuel, Yuvraj Arthur (Removes) and Jake and Ryan (Thirds).

The mixed U15 team competed well against Brentwood on Thursday, losing 5-13 but congratulations on an unbeaten afternoon to Mia, Anjani and Avantica. Braving the drizzle, all 4 year groups came out on Saturday to take on a very strong girls Highgate team.

The U14s came closest to an overall win with their 4-5 result, followed closely by the U15s with a 5-7 final score. Amelia, Charlotte and Kamila (L4) played superbly and secured 3/3 wins. The U12s and U13s showed great promise and battled away but were edged out by more experienced players. Elora and Bea (Thirds) made a flying start with 2 wins and a draw so congratulations to them on their debut.

Week two was sandwiched by girls matches with Colfe’s with the Removes and Thirds winning 20-8 and 20-10 respectively.

The U14 mixed team had a really well contested 10-8 win over Brentwood and the first of the Inter-House events took place on Wednesday for the Seniors with North replicating last year’s success.

The  U13A boys continued their top form with another Team Tennis win over Coopers Coborn leaving them currently unbeaten in their round-robin group…one more win and they’ll advance to the knock-out county stage – good luck to them!

Thirds v Prep 2s 'learning fixture'

We had an awesome afternoon of tennis on Friday with our Prep 2s learning how to play doubles against the Thirds. Overall, the Thirds won, however it was a lot closer than it was last year!

It great to see some familiar faces in the Thirds, but more importantly it was great to see the socialising between them and the Prep 2s – there were smiles all around, all in the name of tennis! We have a re-match set up later in the term so it will be ACE to see all the progress made!
